For quite a number of years, the QR code has been very popular in Japan; however, it was not until recently that the remainder of the world caught on to the benefits of website barcodes. QR codes are now a very effective marketing tool that are more readily available and can be found on a variety of business promotional items; including business cards, flyers, posters and more.
The airline industry is one industry that got it right in terms of using the QR code as not just a marketing tool, but as a business tool. Airlines now send QR codes to the mobile phones of passengers, to act as a boarding pass. Now, all passengers have to do is arrive at the gate for boarding, show the attendant their phone with the QR code, have their phone scanned, and then be on their way.
Real estate agents are also making use of this marketing strategy. You may see a QR code on a sign outside a property, or next to a property listing in the local newspaper. Once you scan the quick response code with your phone, you will be taken to a mobile website that has a more detailed listing of the property.
As QR codes are becoming more commonplace, we’re seeing more creative QR code designs and more creative uses of the codes to market large and small businesses alike. What are some examples of creative ways that you’re seeing QR codes used?
